# Supported Hardware

Connect EmbedStudio to your embedded target through a supported debug probe and start exploring firmware variables.

“Tested” means we have run it. “Not yet verified” means we have not, and we do not list it as supported.

## Debug Probes

### ST-Link: Tested

Developed and tested with an ST-Link V2 connected to an STM32F4 Discovery board. Other ST-Link generations have not been verified.

### J-Link: Tested

Tested with EmbedStudio. Other models and firmware versions within this family have not been individually verified.

### CMSIS-DAP: Tested

Tested with EmbedStudio. Other models and firmware versions within this family have not been individually verified.

## Target Devices

EmbedStudio is built for ARM Cortex-M targets that expose their memory over SWD. Variables come from the ELF file’s debug information, so the firmware must be built with it.

### STM32: Tested

Tested on an STM32F407 (Cortex-M4).

### Other Cortex-M families: Not yet verified

Not tested. We do not list other families until they have been run.

## Operating Systems

### Windows (x64): Tested

Published as a zip archive.

### Linux (x64): Tested

Published as a tar.gz archive.

### macOS: Not supported

No build is published.

## Compatibility

Compatibility depends on the debug probe, target architecture, debug configuration and available ELF/DWARF information.
